I'm sorry about the slightly fanatical title. I just summarised this article. We are not related to each other. I just listen to his music a lot.
So, well, let me introduce our history, from 'Peacemaker' to 'Interstellar'.
A TEENAGER BOY MEETS HANS ZIMMER
When I was an elementary school student, I couldn't understand why my classmates were so excited about music--especially Japanese Heisei pop music. I had never given it any serious thought until MJ hit me.

A TEENAGER BOY MEETS HANS ZIMMER
When I was an elementary school student, I couldn't understand why my classmates were so excited about music--especially Japanese Heisei pop music. I had never given it any serious thought until MJ hit me.
When I'm first grade at junior high, Michael Jackson suddenly gave me a great inspiration, like lightning. He started music inside me. 'History(1995)' is the first music CD that I've purchased.
I love motion pictures, grew up with Hollywood movies and Disney animations. I watched action movies a lot.
In 1997, "What is good film?", "How do I define good music?", "Film music? How does it work? It all feels similar to me. What's the difference?", a third-grade 15-year-old boy kept thinking about sensuous things logically and started to classify cultural things to answer his own question.
Then I met "Peacemaker",

Then I met "Peacemaker",
I was captivated by the powerful identifiable and cool music completely. 'Rain Man''Black Rain''Backdraft''Drop Zone''Crimson Tide''Lion King''Broken arrow', "Wow I knew him!" I bought a film score CD for the first time. It felt like contemporary classical music to the boy who began to take an interest in Classical music. The internet wasn't a common tool as it is today, for me. And I was young. Although I got a huge amount of interest in the music of 'Peacemaker' and its composer, I had no idea what to do about it. So I listened to the CD, over and over, and over and over again. I repeated "55 minutes" again and again.
A LOST SOUL
After the year 2001, I experienced bluegrass for a while. I don't like to mention this, but the subject is 'me, Hans, music' so that I'm confessing this to you. For some reason, I was a fiddler and a vocalist of bluegrass music for a while, and during this period I wasn't so faithful to Hans. I've been busy studying the genre and practising the fiddle.
Hans Zimmer, however, kept producing great works. 'Black Hawk Down' and 'The Last Samurai' are my favourite now, though I couldn't tolerate the false history that 'The Last Samurai' told at first. I was young. I thought, "Hollywood is making money by false Japanese story again!" at the time. In the DVD commentary, the director Edward Zwick said that he wanted to interest his son in the world and inspire him to study. I think he is a good father.
BATMAN FRANCHISE BEGINS
I am completely back to film music life because of 'Batman Begins(2005)'. The film is epic. The film score is epic. Hans made an enormous contribution to the creation of a new Batman world. And He also created a mind-blowing sound which was inspired by the heavy story and Heath Ledger's serious Joker who says, "Why so serious?" in the sequel 'The Dark Knight(2008)'. In 'Interstellar(2014)', his sound reached the fourth dimension.
As times change, film changes, and Hans changes his style. I think that the biggest turning point was around the year 2000, around the film 'Gladiator'. I guess that his choice of works has also changed. But he doesn't change the fundamental parts of his sound, it's always cool, powerful, and inspirational.
Film music is my everyday music. Because I like film, and film music reminds me of my favourite moments. I feel like I'm in my favourite films when I spend time with it. It's fun. I listened to his works a lot. They are memories and companions to me.
So that's where I come from. That's the man whom I'm going to see! It's nearly twenty years since 'Peacemaker, but he keeps gripping me. I can't believe this is happening! Thank you for reading!
